10 ways to survive the COLD with kids!

Good Morning! Have you heard on the news about Chicago and Wisconsin's FREEZING cold temperatures? Well if you haven't, here in a small town in Wisconsin, we woke up to our children having another SNOW DAY! It's -20 here this morning.

Obviously with such cold temps, the kids and I will be stuck inside. How many more parents/ care givers are stuck inside with a house full of kids??

Let me help out with some easy ideas to get through this day! Remember, "Not every day is good but there is GOOD in everyday!"

1) MOVIE DAY! I grew up loving movies! My brother and I were raised by a single mom for 9 years and she taught us we can have fun without spending an arm and a leg! Movies to the rescue!
Here, we are starting our day with a fun winter movie and plan to watch another at quiet time!
Snow Day movies:
- The Grinch
-SNOW DAY!
- Jack Frost
- Frozen
- The snowman
- Scooby Doo Winter WonderDog

2) BALLOONS! Any chill day can turn into a party with some balloons blown up. The kids love it!

3) Number review! I have some snowman counting papers. Whether you find something to print out or just make your own snowmen with construction paper, write a number on the snowman's broom or hat, then have the kids draw however many buttons on their snowman that match the snowman's number!

4) Puzzles! Winter themed would be perfect. We have a giant snowman floor puzzle that we pull out for these winter months!

5) BOOKS! No time is ever wasted while reading 🙂📚

6) a simple winter themed craft

7) Turn up the Beach Boys, take out the beach towels and have yourself a beach party indoors!
I would love to share with you ours on a different post.

8) coloring books!

9) Look through old pictures! My experience is, any kid loves to see themselves as a baby!

10) Bus play! Line up your kitchen chairs to form bus seats. Rather there is friends to fill the seats or their stuffed animals...nothing beats the power of IMAGINATION!
