P for Polar Bear

P for Polar Bear!

Supplies:
Blue paper
White paper
Scissors
Black marker /crayon
Glue!

Looking for an educational and easy craft to get through this winter?! After the excitement of the holidays are over, I like to focus on the winter themes such as winter animals. P FOR POLAR BEAR! It’s perfect and simple to do! Get blue paper, glue your white P on it. In my case I let the kids glue the back of the P and place it on the paper, some needed a little direction but the more independence, the better! It’s a craft for THEM to feel proud about. I then found 3 different size objects in my kitchen that were shaped like circles to trace on white paper. Two big circles for the feet. Two medium circles for the polar bears hands and two smaller white circles for the polar bears ears.

Before gluing your circles on their Appropriate spots on your polar Bears body ( the letter P) decide if you want to use black construction paper for the black of the paws and nose. In my case the black paper was downstairs in my art supplies corner and my black marker was in a drawl in the kitchen so I went with black marker. This gives the kids the opportunity to make their own paw prints on their bears hands and feet and make the bears nose themselves.....(lazy or pure genius?)

Encourage the kids to glue their circles on their letter P. During this time you can use it to quiz them and praise them when they answer the shapes and colors correctly!! It’s so simple and helps make the kids feel intelligent.

Once the circles are placed, show them where to dot their eyes on the letter P and draw the nose and mouth part.
